A useful blinds quote starts with the window, the material and the fitting you need. Compare the full installed specification so a lower headline price does not leave out the work or features your home needs.

The main things that change the price

Finished width and drop

A larger blind uses more material and may need a different system or control. Extra-wide openings can require more than one blind. Record each window separately, including the room name, rather than estimating a whole-house total from one average window.

Fabric, slat material and privacy

A sunscreen fabric, blockout fabric, cellular construction and timber slats have different specifications. Compare the exact material, finish and light-control result. A product described as blockout can still have light gaps around the edges if the fitting does not cover them.

Controls and layered systems

A dual roller system includes two fabrics at an opening. Motorised controls introduce a motor, a power arrangement and compatible operation. Ask what is included, whether electrical preparation is needed and how additional windows would be controlled.

Installation and access

The mounting surface, recess depth, door handles and access to a high window affect the fitting plan. Ask whether removing old blinds, any disposal, access equipment and the proposed installation are included. Do not assume these items are bundled into a product-only price.

Compare quotes on the same basis

  • Finished width and drop for every opening, with inside or face fit recorded.
  • The named fabric or slat material, colour, opacity and control system.
  • The number of blinds and whether a window needs a layered or split system.
  • Measurement, installation and any separate preparation or removal work.
  • The total payable, including GST, and any deposit or payment terms.
  • The estimated lead time and which products are covered by which warranty.

Where to focus a limited budget

Prioritise the job each window must do. A bedroom may need more attention to light gaps, while a living room may benefit from flexible daytime glare control. A coordinated colour family can keep the house consistent without specifying the same fabric at every opening. Ask the team to compare suitable alternatives against the same window measurements.

Price and warranty questions

Can you quote before visiting?

Send approximate sizes, photos and the product you are considering. We can discuss a starting specification; final manufacturing dimensions and fitting details still need to be confirmed before ordering.

Which blinds come with a 10-year warranty?

Blinds manufactured in our Auckland factory and our shutters come with a 10-year warranty. Other products carry the warranty shown on your quote or invoice. See warranty details and how to make a claim.
